The Edelbluthaflinger originated in the 1960s from Haflingers, which were refined by increasing the proportion of Arab blood in order to obtain a modern, versatile small horse. Since 2006, a stud book and a stud book for Edelbluthaflinger have been kept in the breeding association regulations of the FN. The criterion for entry in the stud books is an Arab blood percentage between 1.57% and 25%, whereby the percentages are traced back six generations.
