北海道犬(ほっかいどうけん、ほっかいどういぬ)是原產自日本北海道的日本狗種,又稱為「愛努犬」和「道犬」。北海道犬與其他日本狗種一樣,有專屬的原產地域及傳殖系統,由於牠是北海道厚真町的特產犬隻,因此亦被稱為「厚真犬」。北海道犬是日本「獵犬競技會」的熱門狗之一,因為北海道犬自古就有伴隨愛努族人從事狩獵活動的紀錄,即使被放在困有熊隻的監牢中,北海道犬仍能在與熊隻對峙的情況之下顯示出過人的行動能力。雖然北海道犬並不及秋田犬與柴犬般聞名於世,但在德國一帶亦有繁育北海道犬的情況。

北海道狼

北海道狼(學名:Canis lupus hattai),日本稱 蝦夷狼,俄羅斯稱 薩哈林狼,是一個已滅絕的狼亞種,曾分佈於日本北海道島、俄羅斯薩哈林島及千島群島一帶。由於棲息地被人類開發,並因威脅家畜而遭農民大量毒殺,同時被家畜散播的狂犬病和犬瘟熱病毒傳染,北海道狼於 1889 年滅絕,後由日本學者岸田久吉(英文:Kyukichi Kishida)在 1931 年將其命名為獨立的狼亞種。 北海道狼是生活在日本的兩個狼亞種之一,另一個亞種為本州狼,分佈於本州、四國和九州。在日本,狼曾被人們當做守護神崇拜,有供奉狼的祠廟和不少關於狼的民間傳說。隨着日本逐漸步入現代化,狼不再被尊崇,而是由開拓使懸賞獵殺。繼北海道狼滅絕後,本州狼也在 1905 年滅絕。儘管這兩個狼亞種的分佈區域相鄰,但在形態上,本州狼是最小的狼之一,北海道狼則恰恰相反,它的另一個學名為 Canis lupus rex,由英國學者波科克(Pocock)根據大英博物馆收藏的北海道狼標本在 1935 年命名,該名稱正是指其體型碩大。遺傳學研究顯示,本州狼來自東北亞大陸,從薩哈林島沿大陸橋進入日本,而北海道狼卻來自北美洲,其線粒體 DNA 与北美狼完全相同。學界推測,北海道狼約在 9300 年前從北美狼中分化而來,抵達日本的時間晚於本州狼,距今不足 1.4 萬年,當時的津輕海峽已有 3 km 宽,阻止了北海道狼進入本州岛。

博美犬

博美犬(英語:Pomeranian)是狐狸犬家族中最小的犬種,其名出自原產地波美拉尼亞,在波蘭西北部和德國東北部沿海交界地。博美犬因嬌小的體型而歸類為玩賞犬類。

可蒙犬

可蒙犬(匈牙利語:Komondor,複數形為komondorok),一種牲畜護衛犬種,原自於匈牙利,又稱匈牙利牧羊犬(英語:Hungarian sheepdog)。因其毛長如拖把,而亦有拖把狗之稱。最早作為牧羊犬的一種。由欽察人帶至歐洲,在1544年的匈牙利古抄本中首度提及這種狗。為古老犬種之一。被視為獒犬之後代,直至1920年代作出犬種認定標準。

台灣犬

高沙犬,又稱臺灣土犬、福爾摩莎犬、國寶犬、高沙犬,高沙犬是犬隻品種,屬於馴化動物,臺灣培育之犬科動物(不是原生種動物),最早起源自臺灣高海拔地區原住民飼養的獵犬,是南亞狩獵犬的後代。牠們非常適應台灣崎嶇不平的地形,現在大多作為狩獵犬、護衛犬、特技犬、搜救犬、或者是陪伴犬。

史賓格犬

史賓格犬(英語:English Springer Spaniel)源於英國(早於1576年已有記載),為狩獵用的激飛獵犬,亦可作尋回犬使用。由於非常聰明、服從性高,而且嗅覺靈敏,被各地海關及警察機構訓練成為專門搜索違禁品(毒品或爆炸品)的犬種。

吉娃娃

吉娃娃(西班牙語:Chihuahueño,英語:Chihuahua)是全球最小且極具攻擊性的犬種,以墨西哥合眾國奇瓦瓦州命名。

喜樂蒂牧羊犬

喜樂蒂牧羊犬(英語:Sheltie),也稱謝德蘭牧羊犬(英語:Shetland Sheepdog),產於蘇格蘭設得蘭。其品種的源頭可能來自於蘇格蘭牧羊犬與狐狸狗雜交而成,也可能是蘇格蘭牧羊犬與查理王小獵犬混種的結果。喜樂蒂牧羊犬屬工作犬種,是一種在嚴苛環境中生活的犬種,主要擔任趕羊群及守衛工作,是很活躍的牧羊犬。

四國犬

四國犬是日本四國地方(主要是高知縣)原產的中型犬品種,是日本犬中的一種。過去也稱為土佐犬(日语:とさけん・とさいぬ),與有同樣稱呼的土佐鬥犬是不同的品種。該種犬類以「土佐犬」之名被指定為日本國的天然紀念物。

土佐鬥犬

土佐鬥犬是從進入明治時代後,在鬥犬相當盛行的四國土佐藩(今高知縣)由當地地犬「四國犬」與前田犬、古英國獒(Old English Mastiff)、鬥牛犬(bulldog)、牛頭㹴(bull terrier)、大丹狗(great dane)等犬種互相交配出來的犬種。常常只用土佐犬(日语:とさけん・とさいぬ)來稱呼。

土耳其阿卡巴士犬

土耳其阿卡巴士犬的歷史可追溯自古代西土耳其作為牧羊犬和護衛犬。由於產地偏僻,品種依然純正。

坎高犬

坎高犬,別名坎加爾犬,英文名為Kangal dog、Sivas Kangal、Turkish Kangal,原產地為土耳其,屬於大型犬種,多被用於牧羊或看家護衛等。它於土耳其被視為國寶,是土耳其的一級保護動物,亦是世界上唯一被視為國寶的犬種。

埃什特雷拉山犬

埃什特雷拉山犬(葡萄牙語:Cão da Serra da Estrela,英語:Estrela Mountain Dog),又譯為愛斯崔拉山犬、埃斯尼拉山犬、葡萄牙牧羊犬,源自於葡萄牙埃什特雷拉山區的大型牲畜護衛犬。

墨西哥無毛犬

墨西哥無毛犬(Xoloitzcuintle)是一種稀有的無毛犬種。

墨西哥狼

墨西哥狼(Canis lupus baileyi)是狼的最為稀少及遺傳上較疏離的亞種,分佈在北美洲。

大丹犬

大丹犬(英語:Great Dane),也稱做大丹狗、德國獒(德語:Deutsche Dogge)。被人們視為世界犬中的阿波羅,產於德國,歷史可追溯至愛爾蘭獵狼犬和古代英國獒。儘管在有些地方大丹犬被稱為“丹麥獵犬”,但是它們並非來自丹麥或在丹麥被馴化。該狗聰明、勇敢,忠於主人,體高達70釐米以上,體重45公斤以上。牠是犬中鬥士,易於訓練,可飼養成能力強且服從命令的警衛犬。

大白熊犬

比利牛斯山犬(法語:Chien de montagne des Pyrénées),一般称作大白熊犬(英語:Great Pyrenees),或简称大白熊,是一种大型犬类。主要用作守护犬、救助犬和伴侣犬。大白熊犬是一种历史悠久的犬类,已被牧羊人使用了数百年。大白熊犬最早在1407年被详细的描述,并于1675年被法国贵族所喜爱。 在19世纪初,有一个位于山区乡镇的繁荣犬类市场将该狗带到了法国其他地区。

大麥町

大麥町(克羅埃西亞語:Dalmatinac, Dalmatiner,英語:Dalmatian),又譯達爾馬西亞狗或斑點狗,是狗的品種之一。 在兽医学中,大麥町狗主要排泄尿酸,而不是尿素,原因是其尿酸循环中一个转换酶的基因坏了。因此,大麥町有較高的腎臟石風險,常常發生於十歲以上的狗,尤其是公狗。

奇努克犬

奇努克犬是一種20世紀初源於新罕布夏州的罕見雪橇犬種,是該州州犬。

威爾斯㹴

威尔士㹴(英文: Welsh Terrier)是一种来自英国的狗品种。它们原用来打猎狐狸,鼠类动物和獾,在上个世纪主要被用来参賽。虽然威尔士梗有了一个新用途,但是它们还有原有的坚固的性格,所以需要嚴紧的训练。威尔士梗来自威尔士,可能是英国最古老的犬种之一。

富國狗

富國狗(越南語:Chó Phú Quốc/㹥富國),名字源於越南富國島,為越南的國狗。品種的特色有二:(1)背脊長有一列倒生的剛毛;(2)腳趾間長有薄膜,善於游泳。雖然未獲世界犬業聯盟確認牠的品種標準,但性格普遍忠心梗直,而且肌肉相當發達。

尋血獵犬

尋血獵犬(Bloodhound)是一種大型嗅觉獵犬。 尋血獵犬最初以狩獵鹿和野豬為繁殖目的,而且從中世紀起還用於跟踪人類,現在大部分專門用於跟蹤。尋血獵犬是聖休伯特在比利時飼養獵犬的後裔。 尋血獵犬以辨別人體氣味而著名,甚至在幾天,或很遠的距離,也可以跨越水澤。尋血獵犬有異常敏銳的嗅覺,加上強大和頑強的跟踪本能。

小獵犬

小獵犬(英語:Beagle),又稱獵兔犬、小獵兔犬,也音譯為米格魯、比格犬,是一種小型至中型的犬種。在分類上屬於獵犬,它的外觀近似獵狐犬,但是體形較小。 小獵犬最早用於狩獵,現今在世界各地受到許多人的歡迎,被當成家庭寵物。美國漫畫《花生漫畫》中的主角史努比,被認為可能是全世界最出名的虛構小獵犬。

峡谷㹴

峡谷㹴(愛爾蘭語:Brocaire Uí Mháil)是㹴類犬的品種和四個愛爾蘭獵犬品種之一。它有時被稱為愛爾蘭峡谷㹴或威克洛㹴,愛好者通常短叫格倫。 属于小型犬的一種,毛发长度中等,力量较大。身体的长度比例大于高度。

川东猎犬

川东猎犬是原产于中国四川省东部及重庆市(川东地区)的猎犬品种,主要的分布地区包括广安市市区、邻水县、重庆市合川区、大足区等,也称为重庆犬、邻水狗、足狗、广狗等。川东猎犬的起源可以追溯至汉代,四川省成都市和重庆市境内发掘的汉代墓葬中都曾出土过形似川东猎犬的陶俑。

巴吉度獵犬

巴吉度獵犬(法語:Basset hound)是一種短腿的犬種,屬於獵犬家族。 法國巴吉度獵犬以狩獵兔和野兔為目的。巴吉度獵犬嗅覺跟踪能力僅次於血𤟥,常被當成警犬來訓練。共有6種獲認可的法國巴吉度獵犬。其外型像是大一號的小獵犬(米格魯)。

巴哥犬

巴哥犬(英語:Pug)原中文名哈巴狗,又稱作巴哥。是一種小型觀賞犬,巴哥犬面黑,有很多褶皺,成年時身高大約25到28厘米,體重約為5至13公斤,壽命大約為12到15年。個性溫和。

巴西㹴

巴西㹴(英語:Brazilian Terrier, Fox Paulistinha),是一种巴西特有的㹴犬。其很可能是来自其他种类的猎狐㹴的选育品种。

希腊猎犬

希腊猎犬(英语:Greek Harehound),是一种来自希腊的罕见狗品种。它是一种猎犬,被用来狩猎野兔,毛色是黑色和黄棕褐色的。

德國牧羊犬

德國牧羊犬(德語:Deutscher Schäferhund;英語:German Shepherd),是狗的一个品種,1977年才正式確定命名為德國牧羊犬,故各地命名迥異,中文語境下常稱為德國狼犬或德國狼狗。德国牧羊犬在所有犬类的智商排名中排行第三。牠們敏捷且适合活动的工作環境,經常被部署各種任務,例如警察、護衛、搜索及拯援和軍事,牠們也為盲者做導盲犬的工作;因台灣在日治時期大量使用德國牧羊犬為軍犬,所以德國牧羊犬在台灣使用的台語名稱為“軍用犬”。 德国牧羊犬原产於德国。於1880年,德国牧羊犬已经在德国各地固定下来,并作为牧羊犬使用。在第一次世界大战期间被德军募集,作为军犬随军。由德军取长补短培育后,基本定型。因为体型高大,外观威猛,并且具备極强的工作能力,因此在世界多處范围以警犬、搜救犬、导盲犬、牧羊犬、观赏犬以及家养宠物犬等身份活跃。 目前常见的德国牧羊犬有经过进一步改良的“西德德牧”以及较为原始的“东德德牧”。两者体型有显著区别,“西德德牧”为加强其观赏性,因此背部背弓弧度较“东德德牧”大。通常比较常见的为“西德德牧”。

愛爾蘭獵狼犬

愛爾蘭獵狼犬(愛爾蘭語:Cú Faoil,爱尔兰语发音:[ˈkuː ˈfˠiːlʲ],英語:Irish Wolfhound)源自愛爾蘭的犬種,馴養做為打獵用。名字起源於馴養的目的(猎狼)而不是外表。 這種狗是世界上最高的狗。

拉布拉多犬

拉布拉多犬或稱拉布拉多拾獵犬(簡稱拉布拉多;英語:Labrador Retriever)是一種中大型犬類,天生個性溫和、活潑、沒有攻擊性和智商高,是適合被選作導盲犬或其他工作犬的狗品種,跟黃金獵犬、哈士奇並列三大低攻擊性犬類之一。在美國犬業俱樂部中拉布拉多是目前登記數量最多的品種。

拉布拉多貴賓狗

拉布拉多貴賓狗(英語:Labradoodle)是由拉布拉多犬和貴賓狗杂交产生的混种犬。

拉薩犬

拉薩犬是一種原產於西藏的小型犬,依據目前對國際間拉薩犬血統規範最完整的美國犬之俱樂部設定,雄性拉薩犬一般身高約為26-27公分(厘米),重約6.4至8.2公斤;雌性略小,體重在5.4至6.4公斤之間。 品種標準要求深褐色的眼睛和黑色的鼻子,淺褐色的則有深棕色的鼻子。毛的質地濃密、厚重,非常緻密。 他們有各種各樣的顏色,包括黑色,白色,褐色、磚色和金黃色等。尾巴完整往背部倒捲。一般說法此犬種是由拉萨的喇嘛寺所豢養、培育,專屬於布達拉宮中達賴喇嘛專屬的珍貴犬種,然而在更早的歷史上,此種犬隻已存在王藩之中,因為一直屬於禁宮國寶,因此直到19世紀末葉,甚至20世紀初期,這種狗對西藏當地一般民間來說仍非常神秘。

拳師犬

拳師狗(英語:Boxer)源自德國,屬於獒犬的一種,十九世紀中由德國鬥牛犬(德語:Bullenbeißer)(現已滅絕)和英國鬥牛犬混種而成。德國鬥牛犬主要作為工作犬。原本用於狩獵野豬、熊和牧牛工作,牠們有不同的類型、大小、毛色。 拳師犬俱樂部成立於1896年,在1895年的慕尼黑的犬展首次出現。首個標準建立於1902年。牠的英文名稱boxer來源,有不同的講法,但沒有一個可以確定。在第一次世界大戰,被作為軍犬用途,戰後亦担當警犬及導盲犬工作。拳師犬是一種友善、愛玩樂的犬種,牠服從性強,聰明,對兒童甚為愛謢。

指標犬

指標犬(又稱指示犬),是一种中大型的犬種。最初起源於英國,屬於獵犬的一種。

斗牛犬

鬥牛犬(英語:Bulldog)係一種哺乳類動物,係一中型犬種,又名老虎狗、牛頭犬,鬥牛犬一詞通常被用來稱呼英國鬥牛犬(English Bulldog 或 British Bulldog),其餘鬥牛犬種包含美國鬥牛犬(American Bulldog)、古英國鬥牛犬(Old English Bulldog)、勒維特鬥牛犬(Leavitt Bulldog)、復刻版英國鬥牛犬(Olde English Bulldogge)以及法國鬥牛犬(French Bulldog)等。 其中古英國鬥牛犬因鬥牛活動被禁止後已經滅絕;復刻版英國鬥牛犬則係由育種者於近四十餘年前起針對鬥牛犬過多遺傳疾病改良之品種,其外貌與古英國鬥牛犬近似,然性情溫和友善且健康狀況遠優於鬥牛犬;而勒維特鬥牛犬與復刻版英國鬥牛犬皆屬育種者大衛·勒維特(David Leavitt)之傑作,但他認為復刻版的後代中多數已經逐漸流失了他當初培育的品質,所以另外以自己的姓氏命名之,其血統組成包含1/2的英國鬥牛犬、1/6的美國鬥牛犬、1/6的比特犬(American Pit Bull Terrier)以及1/6的鬥牛獒犬(Bullmastiff)。 鬥牛犬係源於英國之犬品種,其犬種特徵為肌肉發達、體態穩重、臉部有皺褶、獨特的扁鼻,雄性成犬一般約23-25公斤,雌性成犬則約18-23公斤,肩高30-40厘米。英國的鬥牛犬種標準中,雄性成犬重約23公斤,雌性成犬則約18公斤;美國的鬥牛犬種標準,前者約20-25公斤,後者則約20公斤。美國畜犬協會則建議鬥牛犬體重平均應該在18-23公斤。 美國犬業俱樂部(AKC)的統計數據表明,2009年時鬥牛犬是全美第7受歡迎的品種犬,到了2013年攀升至第5,2016年位列第4。

斯凯㹴

斯凱㹴(Skye Terrier)是一個犬種,耐寒㹴和養犬俱樂部「最瀕危的英國本土犬種」中之一。

斯塔比嚎犬

斯塔比嚎犬(英文:Stabyhoun)是一种来自荷兰的罕有狗品种。它们英文名字的第一部分因该来自荷兰语 "sta me bij",名字后面来自"hoon",指狗的意思。现在,世界上有大约三千五百只斯塔比嚎犬。

斯塔福郡鬥牛㹴

斯塔福郡鬥牛㹴(英: Staffordshire Bull Terrier,非正式:Staffie, Stafford, Staffy or Staff)﹔有時與比特鬥牛㹴等歸納為比特犬的一種,是一個中型的短塗層品種犬這是一個英格蘭狗,第五個最流行的品種。

新斯科舍诱鸭寻回犬

新斯科舍诱鸭寻回犬(英語:Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever,简称为Toller)是一种中型猎犬,得名于它的原产地加拿大新斯科舍省。新斯科舍诱鸭寻回犬是体型最小的寻回犬,样子有点像金毛寻回犬,性格聪明活泼。。

日本狆

狆(日语:狆,英語:Japanese Chin)是原產於日本的一種小型犬。頭大、寬且平。鼻子寬而且短,鼻樑明顯,鼻子與眼睛在一個水平線上,黑亮的眼睛大又圓,隔著鼻子相對應。兩隻三角形的耳朵,披著長長的毛髮對稱。 地垂落著,展示著仲狗的美麗與可愛。此種狗身體呈方形,頸短、上仰,背短且直,被毛豐富、長又直,如絲質般下垂。 西元732年,朝鮮王室將日本狆的祖先(中國的拉薩犬)送到日本宮庭,後來這種犬在日本繁衍。在19世紀時。此種狗出口到美國和英格蘭,經過育種家多年的繁育,目前分佈較廣。日本狆姿態優雅,步態輕盈有彈性。性格堅韌、活潑、機警,有些鬧。忠於主人,不信任陌生人。

日本狼

日本狼(學名:Canis lupus hodophilax)又稱 本州狼,是一個已滅絕的狼亞種,曾分佈於日本本州島、四國島和九州島,因被人類大量獵殺而在 1905 年滅絕,據信為體型最小的狼之一。其學名轉化自希腊文单词 Hodos(道路)和 phylax(保衛者),來源於日本民間傳說,在傳說中狼被描繪成了旅行者的守護神。 本州狼是生活在日本的兩個狼亞種之一,另一個亞種為北海道狼,分佈於北海道等地,早在 1889 年便已滅絕。

杜賓犬

杜賓犬(德語:Dobermann,英語:Doberman Pinscher),是原產於德國的一種中大型犬,大約在1890年由Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann所培育出來。是最常被用來作為軍事用途的軍犬。

柴犬

柴犬(日语:柴犬/しばいぬ,學名:Canis lupus familiaris),日本犬種之一。屬於小型犬種。柴犬於1936年(昭和11年)12月16日被指定為日本的天然紀念物(指定了六種日本犬種的其中一個),亦是現存六種日本犬中其中一種小型犬。根據日本犬保存會,日本境內飼養的日本犬種裡,約有八成為柴犬。

格陵蘭犬

格陵蘭犬(英文:Greenland Dog,別名格陵蘭哈士奇,Greenland Husky)是一種大型的哈士奇犬,主要作為一種用於狩獵北極熊和海豹的雪橇犬。 這種古老的犬種相信是第一批來到格陵蘭的因紐特人帶來的狗的後代。

格雷伊獵犬

格雷伊獵犬(Greyhound),又稱「靈𤟥」(靈緹)、「格力」,是一種用在狩獵和競速的狗,牠是陸上速度僅次於獵豹的哺乳類動物之一,該犬種具備強健的四肢、深厚的胸肌和流線的體形,使牠的運動速度可高達72公里/小時。

歐亞狼

亚欧狼,又名普通狼,中国狼,欧洲狼,草原狼,是狼的一个亚种,曾经广布于亚欧大陆。

比利時瑪連萊犬

比利時瑪連萊犬,是比利时牧羊犬四个类型中唯一短毛的一种,是久负盛名的古老品种,发源于比利时北部城市梅赫倫附近,由比利时兽医学院费比特兄弟于1891年选育成功。在美国及北美洲普遍把该类型犬当作一个品种看待。 瑪連萊犬由于具有服从性好、兴奋持久、警觉性高、嗅觉灵敏、胆大凶猛、攻击力强、探求反射特出、衔取欲望高、弹跳力好等突出的警用性能。在欧洲的法国、荷兰、比利时等国马里努阿犬占到警犬总数的60%一70%,广泛应用于追踪、缉毒、警戒、安检、护卫、押解等,在美国被普遍用于搜索、护卫等。就是在德国牧羊犬的故乡德国也大量使用瑪連萊犬,打破了德国牧羊犬垄断工作犬天下的局面。

比熊犬

比熊犬(法語:Bichon Frisé,bichon à poil frisé,意指「白色捲毛的玩賞用小狗」)是一種小型犬品種。外表類似於馬爾濟斯。牠們鮮少自然脫毛,因此毛髮需要整理。顏色一般是白色。

沙皮狗

中國沙皮狗分為兩種型態:傳統中國沙皮犬(骨嘴)、混血型沙皮狗(肉嘴)。傳統中國沙皮犬 起源於中國南方,可追溯至漢代,有二千多年的歷史。在發掘一些漢代時期的墓穴,經常都會發現類似傳統中國沙皮犬型態的陶俑(陶犬)出現,在1920年代的廣東被人用作鬥狗,1949年后,傳至澳門,其後再引入香港。 1960年代因鬥狗活動需求,混入拳師犬、鬥牛犬、鬥牛獒、鬥牛㹴,變成為肉嘴型態,1970年代,以中國鬥狗名稱傳至美國。肉嘴型態的沙皮狗多年來被人們誤解為正宗中國沙皮狗。兩種沙皮狗的型態区别為:傳統中國沙皮犬——身型輕巧,靈活,嘴部堅實,沒有多餘皮肉;肉嘴型——皺皮佈滿頭部,嘴部皮肉厚重,形似河馬,體型肥厚。 肉嘴沙皮狗是一种宠物狗,最大特点是皮有深深的褶皱。其名字“沙皮”不是因为其颜色,而是主要特点。当它们还小的时候,褶皱确实很多,可是长大后就消失了,似乎是身体“长到皮裡去了”。这种狗直到1991年才列入美国犬业俱乐部。

法國鬥牛犬

法國鬥牛犬(英語:French Bulldog,法語:bouledogue français,别名bouledogue)是一種小型犬種。直接來源於1800年代英國進口的鬥牛犬與巴黎本地的小型犬交配產生的後代。

波利犬

波利犬(匈牙利語:Puli,複數形為Pulik),犬種之一,一種小形或中形犬。最早源自匈牙利,被用來保護牲畜。其外觀最大的特徵,是如同粗繩般的毛髮,這層粗厚的毛皮可以達到防水的效果。外觀類似於可蒙犬。

波士顿㹴

波士顿㹴,属于㹴犬的一种,源于美国波士顿,自1893年被美国犬业俱乐部(American Kennel Club,下文简称AKC)承认,属于非运动犬。 颜色和标记是区分该品种和鉴定AKC标准的先决条件。它们的毛色应是黑、海豹色或有白色斑纹的。波士顿㹴个体隶属于中型犬,有一条短尾巴和竖立的耳朵。AKC的资料显示它们非常聪明,易于接受训练。友好但时而固执。尽管其少数能活到十几岁,但平均寿命仍为11至13岁。起初波士顿㹴是被当作捕鼠犬和伴侣犬的,但如今主要作为玩赏犬。在生物分类法中隶属犬科。AKC于2016年将波士顿㹴列为21大最受欢迎的犬种。

波密犬

波蘭低地牧羊犬

波蘭低地牧羊犬(英語:Polish Lowland Sheepdog)是牧羊犬的其中一種。波蘭低地牧羊犬原產於波蘭,其祖先是一千多年前帶到歐洲的亞洲犬,在二次大戰期間,波蘭成為了德國和俄國的戰場,因此波蘭低地牧羊犬曾經面臨絕跡,後來在繁殖家手上重新活躍起來。波蘭低地牧羊犬整體肌肉發達,皮毛濃密且呈略微的波浪狀。波蘭低地牧羊犬個性活躍、警戒心強,適合擔當守護犬。

流浪犬

流浪犬(英語:Stray dogs),又稱自由流浪犬(英語:Free-roaming dogs)、自由活動犬(英語:Free-ranging dogs)、街犬(英語:Street dogs)、野狗。泛指沒有被直接管理、活動不受限制的犬隻,其生存和活動場域可以是都市、鄉間或山區。造成流浪犬現象的主因包括飼主放養、流浪犬之間交配繁殖、惡意棄養、家犬走失等等。因此,流浪犬本身並不是根據其是否有明確飼主來定義的,而是由其活動是否被限制或管領來定義。

潘布魯克威爾斯柯基犬

爱尔兰㹴

愛爾蘭㹴(愛爾蘭語:An Madra Gearr)是愛爾蘭㹴的許多品種之一。愛爾蘭梗被認為是最古老的㹴品種之一。在1873年都柏林狗展是第一個為愛爾蘭㹴提供了一個單獨的類別。由19世紀80年代,是愛爾蘭獵犬中第四大最流行的品種在愛爾蘭和英國。 愛爾蘭㹴是適合生活在農村和城市環境的狗。其身体轮廓呈方便奔跑的流线形。

牛头㹴

斗牛㹴(英語:Bull Terrier),又稱牛頭㹴、布爹利,㹴犬的一种,起源于19世纪的英国,是由当时的牛头犬与梗犬交配得到的品种。其生性好動,會忠實執行指令,但較不知節制與退縮,加上體格較強壯,常被誤會為好鬥、兇惡之犬種,不過只要施以正確的訓練,其能力便能對人帶來很大的幫助。

牲畜護衛犬

牲畜護衛犬(英語:Livestock guardian dog,縮寫為LGD),一種狗品種的分類法,這種狗是牲畜的護衛犬,用來協助放牧,保護牲畜不被掠食者捕食。它們會整天與它們要保護的牲畜住在一起。一般常見的牧羊犬主要被使用於將牲畜聚集在一起,導引到某個方向;而牲畜護衛犬的體形通常更大,與牲畜混居在一起,隨時注意入侵者。在發現掠食者時,牲畜護衛犬會用聲音示警,並表現出更高的攻擊性,驅趕掠食者,以保護牲畜。

狮子狗

北京狗又稱狮子狗(英語:Pekingese),是一种小型的宠物狗,来自中国,是很受人喜爱的贵族宠物。它天性活泼,驯养它使一些人获得乐趣,在灯下它的眼睛闪闪发亮。 中国人也叫它们为福狗,许多艺术作品里描画它们,受到广泛的推崇。古代中國由於不出產真正的獅子,該種狗又近似西方敘述中的獅子,因此工匠就依照北京狗的樣貌製作石獅子及醒獅,所以被认为是守护神。

狼(學名:Canis lupus),或稱為灰狼,哺乳綱,犬科,在生物學上與狗為同一物種,為現生犬科動物中體型最大的物種。狼這個物種曾是地球上分佈地區最廣的哺乳動物,包括北美和歐亞大陸,但如今在西歐、墨西哥與美國大部份地區已然絕跡。它們主要棲息在荒野或偏遠地區,但並不限於此。由於人類厌恶狼對豢養牲畜不顧一切的獵捕行為、以及害怕被狼攻擊的恐懼、棲息地大量的破壞,其棲息地已經縮減了三分之一。 目前,狼主要分佈於亞洲、歐洲、北美和中東(主要是北半球的溫帶區域)。它們是生態系統原有的一部分,各地不同生態系統的多樣性,反映了狼這個物種的適應能力。這其中包括而不限於森林、沙漠、山地、寒帶草原、西伯利亞針葉林、草地。 雖然就整個物種而言,狼被世界自然保護聯盟列為絕種威脅程度最小的等級,然而在某些地區,不同亞種的狼被列為瀕臨絕種或是受絕種威脅的動物。現今在很多地區,狼仍然因為活動或是被視為對牲口威脅的原因,而遭受捕獵。 狼是社會性的獵食動物,狼群以核心家庭的形式組成,包括一對配偶、及其子女,有時也包括收養的未成年幼狼。狼屬於典型的食物鏈上層掠食者。在它們的棲息地中,只有人類和老虎對它們構成實質威脅。它們通常群體行動,由於狼會捕食羊等家畜,因此直到20世紀末期前都被人類大量捕殺,一些亞種如日本狼、紐芬蘭狼等都已經絕種,雖然有一些其它亞種已經確認,但亞種的確切數量仍舊未定。

珍島犬

珍島犬(韓語:진도 개),為南韓的國犬,亦被北韓列為國寶。因南韓全羅南道珍島郡之上的特殊地理環境,交通不易並且沒有其他外來種的入侵,而被保存下來的一純種犬種,並於2005年獲英國育犬協會的正式登記,列入了世界級名犬的行列。

甲斐犬

甲斐犬是狩獵犬的一種,原產於日本山梨縣山區,由於山梨縣的古國名稱為「甲斐」,因而成為此犬種的命名。在1934年(昭和9年)1月22日被日本國家指定為天然記念物。甲斐犬是種典型的獵犬,擁有對於野豬與熊這類大型動物也不會懼怕的特質,但是卻對飼主與其家族都非常順從,以家庭犬來說,擁有非常優良的資質。此外,不會輕易的與飼主以外的人親近,有對飼主一生忠誠的特性,在日本多數人都認為此犬種是屬於「一代一主之犬」。

秋田犬

秋田犬(日语:秋田犬/あきたいぬ/アキタイヌ Akita Inu *),原稱「大館犬」,是日本犬的一種,是國家天然紀念物之六種日本犬中唯一的大型犬種。在日本,送秋田犬的雕像、圖片代表著「祝你早日康復」。在日本是以對飼主忠誠聞名的家庭寵物犬,日本知名的忠犬八公即為秋田犬。

科克尔犬

科克尔犬(英語:Kooikerhondje)是一种来自荷兰的犬种。它本生是一种工作犬,被繁殖来引诱野鸭。科克尔犬在十七和十八世纪很流行,并出现在荷兰画家扬·斯特恩和伦勃朗和油画里。这种狗在美国,加拿大和北欧比较少见,但现在在这些地区变得越来越流行。

紀州犬

苏俄牧羊犬

苏俄牧羊犬(英語:Borzoi、俄語:борзая),亦音譯作波索獵犬,为速度和雅致而培育的美丽视觉猎犬。传统上是用来追踪狼群,因此,不仅要注重步法训练,而且还要兼具智慧和勇敢。这些特质清楚地反映在苏俄牧羊犬骄傲、贵族化的举止上。祖先无疑是与俄罗斯王室有关。1842年被当为是礼物送给英国亚历山德拉公主,并在1891年第一届克鲁夫特名犬展览会上展出。

苔原狼

苔原狼(学名:Canis lupus albus)是狼的一个亚种,分布于欧亚大陆北部的苔原及丛林地带。体型较大。雄性体长118-137厘米,重40-49公斤;雌性体长112-136厘米,重36.6-41公斤。毛发稠密,毛色较浅,灰色或银灰色。

英国可卡犬

英国可卡犬是猎犬的一个品种。英国可卡犬是一种活跃的、和蔼的猎犬,有着很好的身材和马肩隆。 英国可卡犬分为“工作”犬和“展示”犬。它是猎犬品种之一,在某种程度上和他的美国表亲美国可卡犬很相似,不过实际上它和田野猎犬和史宾格犬关系更近。 在美国以外的地区,该品种一般都被简称为可卡犬,在美国就是美国可卡犬。“可卡”(Cocker)一词源于其经常被用作捕猎丘鹬(英文:woodcock)。

英國古代牧羊犬

英國古代牧羊犬(英語:Old English Sheepdog)是一種以放牧家畜和寵物為目的而培育的犬種。英國古代牧羊犬的特徵是灰白的長毛和頭上蓋眼的毛髮。 幼犬出生時的全身覆蓋著熊貓般的純黑和純白色短毛,只有在退去幼毛之後,銀灰色的長毛才會出現。若在法律允許的國家,通常古代牧羊犬的尾巴,會在幼犬時於第一個尾關節處切斷。這種手續會產生類似熊貓的尾部,英文稱作bobbing 或 docking。因為許多國家禁止這種習慣的關係,沒有斷尾的古代牧羊犬,反而越來越常見。目前英國養狗俱樂部並不鼓勵合法切除古代牧羊犬的尾巴,只規定參展犬才需要斷尾。

英國獒犬

英國獒犬(英語:English Mastiff),簡稱馬士提夫(英語:Mastiff),原產於英格蘭,是Alaunt的後代,血緣最早可以追縮到羅馬獒犬,它與聖伯納犬及紐芬蘭犬的血緣很近。英國獒犬体型巨大;雄性高大魁梧,雌性匀称坚实。

蓝色匹卡迪档猎犬

蓝色匹卡迪档猎犬(英文:Blue Picardy Spaniel)是一种来自法国的河索姆河口地区的獚,起源于20世纪初。它们是皮卡迪獚和英国雪达犬的后代。蓝色匹卡迪档猎犬吠叫比较少,适合家庭饲养。它们体力高,需要定期运动。和皮卡迪獚一样,蓝色匹卡迪档猎犬的毛色很特别。这犬品种只被少数的养犬俱乐部认可,在法国和加拿大比较常见。

薩哈林哈士奇

薩哈林哈士奇(英語:Sakhalin Husky,俄語:Сахалинский хаски),又稱庫頁犬或樺太犬(日语:樺太犬/からふとけん Karafuto-ken)是原產自俄羅斯庫頁島(薩哈林島)和千島群島的狗種,是當地住民用於雪橇犬及獵犬的犬種。1910-1912年,以日本人白瀨矗為隊長的南極探檢隊、戰後的南極地域觀測隊第一次越冬隊所採用的雪橇犬品種而有名,也是因太郎與次郎而有名的狗種。

薩摩耶犬

薩摩耶犬(英語:Samoyed)是狐狸犬、雪橇犬家族的一員,原是西伯利亞的原住民薩摩耶族培育出的犬種。因看起來永遠在笑的樣子又喜歡親近人,而被稱為「微笑天使」。 除了溫和的個性也以忍耐力跟健壯著稱,原是用來拉雪橇跟看守馴鹿,也曾被西方探險家用來從事極地探險的任務。 原有多種毛色,黑、黑白、黑褐,但十九世紀時毛皮商人認為白色會最受歡迎而大量輸出白薩摩耶犬到歐美。今日所見的純種薩摩耶犬多是白色系。

薩路基獵犬

薩路基獵犬起源於東非的一種狗的品種,毛細而長,有種高雅的感覺。是狗種中最早被人類所飼養的品種之一,可以追溯到西元前2000多年前的埃及。 在歷史上,中國皇帝也曾飼養過此種犬種,宣德皇帝在1398-1435年間所飼養過,在12世紀左右引入歐洲。 薩路基獵犬的跑步速度極快,也常被當作為是狩獵的夥伴。 有別於其他犬種被視為不潔之物,薩路基獵犬在伊斯蘭教國家奉為神賞賜的聖物,即中東地區唯一尊寵。

藏獒

藏獒(藏语:འདོགས་ཁྱི,威利:'dogs khyi,意为拴系的犬,或藏语:འབྲོག་ཁྱི,威利:'brog khyi,意为高原牧犬,英語:Tibetan Mastiff),又称藏獒犬、松藩狗、苍猊犬、雪山獅子。

蘭西爾犬

蘭西爾犬是歐亞大陸的長毛犬品種之一。屬於工作犬,常在搜救工作中看到。 很多育犬协会认为“兰西尔犬”只是纽芬兰犬一个简单的(有)黑白(皮毛的)变种。但世界犬业联盟(FCI)将其识别为一个独立品种。

蝴蝶犬

蝴蝶犬(法語:Papillon,名稱起源於法語單詞「蝴蝶」),16世紀起源於西班牙,也有人認為起源於法國。身高28厘米以下,體重3.6~4.5公斤,壽命10-14歲,體高20~28cm。毛色有黑色和白色、褐色和白色、或白色和黑色帶有棕褐色斑塊。該犬兩耳直立外展,酷似蝴蝶的翅膀而得名。該犬性格平和,活潑、順從、適應性強,適合作伴侶犬。性格上,友善開朗,優雅美麗。

西伯利亚平原狼

西伯利亚平原狼(Canis lupus campestris)是分布于西至伏尔加、高加索,东至哈萨克的个狼种。在阿富汗、伊朗、罗马尼亚、匈牙利也有分布。它體型要比草原狼還要小,毛少、糙而短。

西伯利亞哈士奇

西伯利亚哈士奇(俄語:Сибирский хаски,Sibirskiy haski,英語:Siberian husky)是一种原产于西伯利亚东部的工作犬,常見別名哈士奇。西伯利亚哈士奇体重介于25~55磅(16~27kg)之间,身高大约20~23.5英寸(51~60cm),是一种中型犬。 由于有着能在北极严寒环境中繁衍生息的能力,西伯利亚哈士奇是一种适应力很强的犬种。它们最早是由西伯利亚东部的楚科奇族部落居民饲养,用于狩猎驯鹿,拖曳雪橇或者照顾幼儿使孩子们远离寒冷。

西施犬

西施犬(英語:Shih Tzu)(原稱:獅子狗)是原產西藏的拉薩犬(Lhasa Apso, 西藏獅子狗) 與中國宮廷內犬種混合所產生之混合種,兩者常被混淆,即使在美國犬之協會對於血統介定之後,在民間仍時常被混淆。混稱或誤稱的原因就在於其原本近似的外觀,也就是獅子般的長毛外貌。 獅子狗原種為拉薩犬,早先為西藏喇嘛教僧侶豢養於寺中,作為警示犬用,後進貢至中國宮廷,亦稱獅子狗,又與宮內另一種長毛短鼻小白狗(北京狗)的犬種混合,後代與原種兩者外型頗多類似,常被混淆,都稱成為獅子狗。因此,「西施」雖為中文漢語,但其實並非此犬種原來之中文漢語名,漢語原稱應為「獅子狗」。西方人將「獅子」漢語以威妥瑪羅馬字音拼寫,為 Shih Tzu, 原即為漢音「獅子」,戰後多年,此犬種再由外國引進自台灣時,或因繁殖者背景,或因行銷商業因素,被譯做「西施」。西施犬的身高都在27公分以下,體重為4公斤至7公斤。

西藏㹴

西藏㹴(Tibetan Terrier)是一种中等体格的犬种,原产自中国西藏。尽管名为㹴犬,但它并非㹴犬组的成员。该犬种因与已知的㹴犬相似而被欧洲的发现者命名为西藏㹴犬。这个犬种的西藏名字是Tsang Apso,大致翻译为“产于乌思藏("Tsang")的有杂毛和胡须 ("apso") 的犬”。一些年迈的旅行者称这只犬为Dokhi Apso或“户外的”Apso,指的是生活在户外的毛茸茸的或有胡须的此类工作犬。其在生物分类法中隶属犬科。

西高地白㹴

诺福克梗

诺福克梗(英語:Norfolk Terrier)是一种来自英国的犬种。诺福克梗在1960年前同诺维奇梗被当为同一种狗。诺福克梗的耳朵向下而诺维奇梗的耳朵是向上的。两种梗的身形都很小。

贵宾犬

贵宾犬(又名貴婦犬,英語:Poodle,又稱Caniche)是一组正式犬种,分为:標準型贵宾犬、中間型贵宾犬、迷你型贵宾犬、玩具型贵宾犬(体型最小的茶杯型贵宾犬,在国际标准中被归入玩具型贵宾犬);另外,有注册组织也承认中型贵宾犬的分类,介于标准型贵宾犬和迷你型贵宾犬之间,生活中常称为泰迪狗。

边境牧羊犬

邊境牧羊犬(英語:Border Collie)是一種原產自蘇格蘭的牧羊犬,主要協助農場放牧,懂得用眼神控制羊群,是最普遍的蘇格蘭牧羊犬犬種。邊境牧羊犬以精力旺盛,體格精實且容易學習雜技運動而聞名,可是有時候太過興奮會產生一些神經質。他們被學界認為是最聰明的犬種。智商大約等同六、七歲幼童的智商,所以在犬類競技與牧羊犬競賽中往往表現亮眼,佔有優勢。根據2011年1月的媒體報導,有一隻邊境牧羊犬能夠大略了解1,022個人類字彙,並能根據這些命令做出正確的反應與動作。

迦南犬

迦南犬(Canaan dog )為一種中東地區的原始犬種,曾於該地銷聲匿跡數千年之久。現在為數不多,約莫2000至3000隻,目前多數豢養的迦南犬分布於北美地區及歐洲地區。在原產地則廣泛分佈於西奈半島到敘利亞的南黎凡特地區。 迦南犬最早是由以色列畜犬協會(Israel Kennel Club )於1953年正式承認為一犬種(同時他們也承認此犬為以色列國犬),後被世界畜犬協會(FCI)於1966年認可。 1986年第一批迦南犬由以色列的Sha'ar Hagai 犬舍帶至芬蘭。現在被世上多數畜犬協會認可,也被帶至許多國家進行培育。現在迦南犬在美國、加拿大、英國、芬蘭、德國、以色列、法國皆有成立俱樂部。

迷你美國牧羊犬

迷你美國牧羊犬(Miniature American Shepherd,縮寫MAS),是一種小型牧羊犬。該品種聰明而且順從,經常訓練從事各種狗類運動,例如放牧比賽、犬障礙賽、服從比賽、犬類自由舞蹈賽、飛球比賽等。 迷你美國牧羊犬就像一隻小型澳洲牧羊犬。儘管身形嬌小,但他們是聰明、自發性的工作犬,以及對馬有親和力的忠誠而活潑的伴侶犬。

迷你雪納瑞

迷你雪納瑞(英語:Miniature Schnauzer,又稱迷你史納莎)是雪納瑞家族中的小型犬種,於19世紀中後期產於德國。迷你雪納瑞是由標準雪納瑞和許多小型犬,包括貴賓犬 、迷你杜賓犬或是艾芬篤賓犬配種衍生而來。

邊境㹴

边境㹴(英語:Border Terrier)是一种来自英国的㹴犬,体型细小,成犬身高(至肩膊)28-41厘米,重5.2-7.0公斤,與丹迪丁蒙㹴和貝林登㹴有共同祖先。

郊狼

郊狼(学名:Canis latrans),也叫草原狼、丛林狼、北美小狼,是犬科犬属的一种,与狼是近亲。郊狼产于北美大陆的广大地区,北起阿拉斯加、南到巴拿马。欧洲探险家最初是在美国西南部发现这种动物。郊狼一般单独猎食,偶尔也会组成小型的群体。平均寿命为6-10年。郊狼在其大小、颜色和头部形状都十分相似濒危的红狼。 其英文coyote一詞來自中美洲阿茲特克等部族所用的納瓦特爾語單詞coyōtl,后經西班牙語傳入到英語。 尽管受到广泛的捕猎,郊狼是少数在人类迁入后,种群数量扩大的大中型动物之一,这一点与浣熊类似。起初郊狼只分布在北美的西半部,但由于人类活动的影响,它们從19世紀初開始扩大分布范围;现在在加利福尼亚、俄勒冈、新英格兰和加拿大东部都十分常见。

金毛寻回犬

金毛尋回犬(英語:Golden Retriever)是比较现代且十分流行的狗的品种。牠是作为用来在猎捕野禽的寻回犬而培养出来的一種單獵犬,游泳的續航力極佳。現今,牠是最常见的家犬之一,因为金毛尋回犬很容易养、有耐心,对主人要求亦不多,只要定期的运动,食物和兽医体检就可以了。金毛尋回犬的独特之处在于它讨人喜欢的性格。

银狐犬

日本狐狸犬(英語:Japanese Spitz),通稱狐狸犬、白狐狸犬、银狐犬,是一种屬於日本犬的小至中形狐狸犬(Spitz)之犬种,通常做為玩賞犬。世界不同的養犬俱樂部对银狐犬的大小有不同的要求,但银狐犬一定要比博美犬大。银狐犬在1920年和1930年开始被繁殖,现时被世界各国的養犬俱樂部认可。银狐犬却得不到美国養犬俱樂部的认可,由於外貌和白色博美犬,美國愛斯基摩犬和薩摩耶犬太类似。此种狗历史不长,為相當新的品種,但由于良好的性格和其他因素变得越来越受歡迎的流行品種。 银狐犬主要的健康问题包括膝盖骨脱臼,而其他健康问题包括泪水过多。银狐犬可以作为看门狗,同时也是一种玩賞犬,喜欢陪伴着家里的人。虽然银狐犬的毛好像很多,但其实主人不需要花那么多时间是梳洗狗只,因为污垢不会粘到毛层。

阿富汗獵狗

阿富汗獵狗(英語:Afghan Hound)是一種獵犬,也是最古老的狗品種之一。阿富汗獵狗外表厚實,臉型、身形修長,毛細膩而柔滑,它的尾巴在最後一環捲曲。 阿富汗獵狗生存於伊朗,阿富汗東部的寒冷山上,最初是用來狩獵野兔和瞪羚。其他名稱包含巴爾赫塔子庫奇獵犬,獵犬,俾路支獵犬,喀布爾獵犬,或非洲獵犬等。

阿扎瓦克犬

阿扎瓦克犬(英文:Azawakh) 出众的运动员外貌,异乎寻常的速度,能够达到每小时64公里,而且耐力相当强。这种沙漠灵提狩猎时不会将猎物杀死,而是使猎物受重伤,这是因为,死猎物在灼热的阳光下很快会变质。

阿拉帕哈藍血鬥牛犬

阿拉帕哈藍血鬥牛犬是一只产自佐治亚州阿拉帕哈镇的一种罕见的狗种。

阿拉斯加雪橇犬

阿拉斯加雪橇犬(英語:Alaskan Malamute)又稱阿拉斯加馬拉穆,是最古老的雪橇犬之一。这种犬与同在阿拉斯加的其它犬种不同,四肢强壮有力,培育它的目的是为了耐力而不是速度,因而它们的主要用途是拉雪橇。阿拉斯加雪橇犬有时候会被误认为西伯利亚雪橇犬,这是由于这两者的颜色和条纹相似,但实际上两者在大小、结构和特性等方面完全不同。作为宠物,阿拉斯加雪橇犬一旦成熟后有着非常安静、高雅的气质,而且它们忠于主人。它的名字来自爱斯基摩人的伊努伊特族的一个叫做马拉谬特的部落,这个部落生活在北美阿拉斯加西部一个叫做扣赞伯(Kotzebue)的岸边。欧洲人到来之前,最早发现此地的俄国人是在白令海峡航行时被风暴吹到这块西伯利亚北部的土地的。水兵们返回俄国之后,就把他们在这里印象深刻的事情告诉了其他的俄国人,这当然包括了这里的特色——阿拉斯加雪橇犬。

阿根廷杜告犬

阿根廷杜告犬(西班牙語:Dogo Argentino),又名阿根廷獒或阿根廷杜高犬,其拉丁名DOGO在西班牙語中意為鬥牛犬;是一種對炎熱天氣適應極好,但對寒冷天氣沒輒的犬種。阿根廷杜告犬在JKC分類中屬於第二群種(杜賓犬、雪納瑞犬、瑞士高山犬以及牧牛犬)。杜高犬是一种凶猛的烈性犬,所以在很多城市被列为禁养犬种。

雅庫特萊卡犬

雅庫特萊卡犬,是分布於俄羅斯雅庫特共和國的工作犬。 牠們主要分布於科雷馬河、因迪吉爾卡河,亞納河和勒拿河,牠們是畜牧犬,狩獵犬和雪橇犬。雄性高53-56cm、雌性高52–55cm。 牠們是雅庫特人從西伯利亞帶來北極圈,起初作為狩獵鳥獸的助手,後來在畜牧業和拉雪橇也用到牠們。

雪橇犬

雪橇犬是指藉著挽具在雪或冰上,拉無輪載具行駛的犬隻。無法確定此種獨特的運輸方式起源地點,但可能是源於東西伯利亞,當地的部落有悠久的冬季遷徙歷史。

馬爾濟斯

馬爾濟斯(英語:Maltese),亦可譯為瑪爾濟斯,香港稱摩天使,為白色長毛的小型犬種,性情溫和,外表可愛,撒嬌好客,因此十分受到人們的喜愛,是很受歡迎的犬種之一,廣泛飼養於世界各地。 注意:應特別注意心臟相關疾病,定期每半年健康檢查,尤其有咳嗽以及呼吸急促等症狀。

馬瑞馬牧羊犬

馬瑞馬牧羊犬(英語:Maremma Sheepdog,義大利語:Maremmano),全名為馬瑞馬·阿布魯佐牧羊犬(義大利語:Cane da pastore maremmano abruzzese),一種牲畜守衛品種,起源於義大利中部,特別是托斯卡纳與拉齐奥地區的阿布魯佐(Abruzzo)與馬瑞馬(Maremma)。數個世紀以來,義大利牧人畜養這種狗來保護羊群,免於遭受狼群的攻擊。

高加索犬

高加索犬,原產地為俄羅斯高加索地區,血緣來自中亞的獒犬,是世界上體型最大的狗隻之一,於蘇聯時期已被視為國寶。 毛色為不同色調的灰色,一般是淺灰色至紅褐色調,當中也有淡黃色、黃色、白色、斑紋、斑點和雙色。 為一種古老的犬種,據傳於當地有三千多年的歷史,而牧羊犬的工作也維繫了六百多年。在二戰時期因著忠誠的特性被俄羅斯軍方用於軍事任務:一百二十六隻狗為一聯(共四聯)地派上戰場炸坦克。五百零四隻狗犧牲,三百多台坦克被炸毀。自此之後,此犬種便深受史達林喜愛,被奉為國寶、禁止出境。

鬆獅犬

鬆獅犬(英語:Chow Chow),又稱獅子犬或獢獢,是最古老的犬種之一,來自中國華北地區。因头部酷似雄狮而得其名,作為一種獨立品種,是很受人喜愛的寵物。

鬥牛獒

鬥牛獒(英語:Bullmastiff)是一種大型的犬種。其正式記載的歷史大約從1860年的英國開始,有部分繁殖者相信在這年期之前數世纪,已經出現。在當時英國的貴族,會在他們巨大的莊園裏建立獵場,同時飼養大量動物作為狩獵用途。而當時的社會環境相當艱難,貧窮的人根本沒有金錢購買肉類作為食物。祇能偷偷地在這些貴族的獵場盜獵動物。當時的法律偷獵是一項嚴重罪行,會被判處死刑,或送往國外。但亦不能阻止偷獵的活動。盗獵者亦都明白被捉拿後的懲罰,所以會對獵場守衛作出強烈反抗。經常都會發生人命傷亡事件。而獵場守衛為了保謢自己生命安全,唯有利用犬隻來守護。當時一般貴族都會飼養一些大型犬,保护他們的堡壘,由其喜愛一些高貴和優雅,長着漂亮的長毛大型犬。但對於外貌粗野,短毛的獒犬,就不大喜歡。通常會送到自己的農場作守衛之用。而獵場守衛就選取了這些高大,強壯的獒犬用作守衛。而盜獵者就會用一種稱為lurchers混種靈提犬作為盜獵犬,守護獵場的獒犬雖然高大強壯,但就不靈活,缺乏耐力及侵略性。獵場守衛雖要一種強壯,沉靜,無畏無懼,敏捷和充滿爆炸力的犬種。這時候在英國中下層流行飼養一種稱為鬥牛犬的品種,牠符合了獵場守衛的要求,只是細小一点。正好補償獒犬的缺点。他們將兩個品種結合,成了今天的鬥牛獒。牠亦有另一個別名獵場守衛者。早期的鬥牛獒樣貌同現今不太相似,主要是在二十年代,有很多不同系统的鬥牛獒出現,直至到1924年制定出必須三代都是鬥牛獒配對繁殖,方可註冊。而同時以60%的獒犬和40%的鬥牛犬配種模式給與繁殖者参考。但在二十世紀初的鬥牛犬同早期已经有很大變化,得出的結果,就是現今的鬥牛獒。 以往的獵場守衛特別喜歡虎班毛色,因為在晚上不容易被發現,黄色品種在月光的照射下容易被盜獵者發現。
